MEGA MARCO: MENTAL MADNESS

WOOT it has been ages since there were any news, but here you go: Mega LuGaZ is bored as fuck and has reused some of the Mega Marco Magic Mushrooms footage to create a little puzzle games (some levels are still buggy BECAUSE IT’S BETA FFS).

KABOOM! The new most awesome game!

Yippie! Today’s presentation of our super top-secret PRO4 was a huuuuge SUCCESS!

And by huuuuge I mean it totally blew everyone’s mind. What a mess. The video above is a sweet gameplay trailer, but nothing can compare to the feeling playing it for yourself. Before we can offer you a downloadable release, we need to make some final changes in balancing and some minor bug-fixing.

But now some Information about the game, and what it is all about:

It’s a multiplayer (2 person) java game, where each player sits in his castle and tries to destroy the enemy’s castle by sending troops to his fortress. That’s the stragety part. At the same time you need to defend yourself. To do so you are given three kind of weapons: crossbow, cannon, magic “super particle” staff. Well watch the trailer for god’s sake, it sums everything up perfectly.

PRO4: It’s going to be legen… wait for it… AWESOME

legenAWESOME? That doesn’t even make sense you say? Because you never played our new game which is currently in development. Yeah, you heard damn right… PLAYABLE. But still, it’s far from completion and many major features are missing. Any many features that are not really features need to be deleted before someone can call it… “bug”. So before you get to play it, here some infos:

  • It’s not going to be a jump ‘n run.
  • It will have nothing to do with Mega Marco at all.
  • Except it’s at least as cool and fascinating
  • …and it’s a game too
  • You will be able to KILL again (because a game without slaughtering would be lame,  AMIRITE??)
  • Game Engine is the jMonkeyEngine (awesomeawesomeawesome).

So yeah, that’s about it for now. There is no release date yet, but by the end of july there should be some downloadable contents. That’s something I decided on my own right now. Because goals are good. So is beer. Damn now I want beer.

As all our resources go into this new project, Mega Marco is currently on ice. But Mega Matthi still holds his plans to work on some new features during summer vacations.

MegaMarco awarded with top-grades!

Remember the day MegaMarco was released during our presentation? Guess what:

Today we received our grades for the project, consisting of project-management and the project itself. In both categories we achieved the best posssible grades! This of course makes us enthusiastic regarding the project for the fourth semester.

Also, on March 13th, the University of Hagenberg will hold its open house, where our awesome project will be presented to our dear visitors.

Of course, we will sign your bellies if you want! We are looking forward to meet you there!

PRO4: The next step in evolution?

After the PRO4 kickoff this afternoon, your beloved MegaMarco Team assembled to talk about a sequel of Magic Mushrooms, the first and up until now only MegaMarco Game. Nothing is decided yet, but teams should be formed until March 10th, so you will find out next week.

The only thing we all agreed on was that we will abandon ActionScript and translate the code to C++.

To improve the game, we are looking forward to receive lots of suggestions from our fans!

Concerning further developments

Hi folks! Even if the current version has some disturbing bugs, there probably won’t be any major fixes within the next few days. Still, let us know if you find any. Until then, think of them as features, like the granny’s corpse smells so bad, it harms you (sometimes?) if you are nearby… or… walljumps are awesome (I think we will keep that as a feature anyway…).

So, here a short list of already known bugs:

  • Mac OS X won’t save ma lvl’s!
  • Grannies sometimes do damage after death
  • Enemies with health value 0 messes with editor
  • performance issues
  • can’t scroll using wheel in firefox

We will focus on this issues as soon as possible, plus we will add more contant to both, gameplay and editor for EVEN MORE FUN!!!

Finally: The Final Hours

After three months of work we are close to finish the first official release version. This won’t be the final version, much content will be added after our presentation at the university. Also, we will be very thankful for any feedback to improve the game.

UPDATE: Tomorrow @ 9:00am CET, Mega Marco can be played in the game section of this website.

UPDATE2: Time of release: 11:30 am CET, to time it with our presentation.
